Xiaomi Rolls Out Crucial ROM Fix for Play Integrity and Wallet Problems

In recent months, several Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi users—especially those on custom ROMs or even some stock MIUI/HyperOS versions—have run into a frustrating wall: Play Integrity API failures, app warnings, and Google Wallet refusing to work. From failed SafetyNet checks to missing wallet features, the user experience took a hit.

Now, Xiaomi has responded. A new ROM-level update aims to restore full Play Integrity compatibility, fix payment app restrictions, and bring back trust from Google services—at least partially.

Let’s dive into what the update does, what it doesn’t, and what users can expect going forward.

Why Play Integrity Matters (And Why Xiaomi Users Were Affected)

Play Integrity API is Google’s evolved version of SafetyNet. It checks whether a device is secure, genuine, and not tampered with—before allowing sensitive apps (like banking or Google Wallet) to function fully.

Here’s what went wrong:

  • Xiaomi devices on unofficial bootloaders, older security patches, or modified ROMs were failing integrity checks.

  • As a result, apps like Google Wallet, Netflix, and some banking apps started warning users or stopped working entirely.

  • Even some users on HyperOS beta and MIUI China ROMs reported issues, despite not rooting or modifying their phones.

The New ROM Fix: What’s Included?

Xiaomi has begun rolling out incremental region-based ROM updates (especially under HyperOS and newer MIUI 14 builds) that directly address the following:

✅ Play Integrity Fix

  • Passes both basic and device integrity checks.

  • Resolves issues in apps that were previously blocked due to failed system validation.

  • Works even on some unlocked bootloaders (though this is not officially supported).

✅ Google Wallet Working Again

  • Wallet now loads payment cards and tap-to-pay works normally.

  • No more “Device not certified” or “Phone doesn’t meet security requirements” popups.

  • Users can now re-add cards without error.

✅ Fix for Banking and Streaming Apps

  • Apps like PhonePe, PayTM, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video now work without low-res DRM or root warnings.

  • Streaming apps no longer downgrade to SD playback.

🛡️ Certification Restored in Play Store

  • Under “Settings > Play Protect Certification”, devices now show as “Certified”.

  • This is a key step for Google services integration.

Devices That Receive the Fix (So Far)

Based on user reports and Xiaomi community posts, the fix has been spotted in:

  • Xiaomi 13 / 13 Pro / 14 Series

  • POCO F5 / X6 Pro

  • Redmi Note 12 & 13 Series

  • Mi 11 Ultra / Mi 11X

  • Select Xiaomi Pad models (HyperOS builds)

More devices are expected to receive the patch gradually in June–July 2025 via OTA.

How to Check if You’re Patched

  1. Update ROM to the latest stable version via system updater or Xiaomi Flash Tool.

  2. Install YASNAC or Play Integrity API Checker app.

  3. Ensure all three checks pass:

    • Basic integrity ✅

    • Device integrity ✅

    • Strong integrity ✅ (optional, required only for some banking apps)

What If You’re Still Facing Issues?

  • Try relocking the bootloader if you're on an unlocked state.

  • Clear cache/data for Google Play Services, Google Wallet, and Play Store.

  • Reboot device and re-add cards in Wallet.

If you’re using a custom ROM (like Xiaomi.EU, LineageOS, or Pixel Experience), check if the developer has merged the fix or included Play Integrity bypass modules (e.g., using DenyList + Magisk + Play Integrity Fix).

What's Missing in the Update?

While the ROM patch fixes a lot, here are some limitations:

  • Devices with permanent SafetyNet ban (due to major tampering) may still fail integrity.

  • Some older Xiaomi models may not receive the patch officially.

  • Rooted users still need Magisk modules or spoofing to pass integrity checks.

  • Not all custom ROMs support the new Play Integrity workaround yet.

Final Thoughts: A Step in the Right Direction

Xiaomi’s fix is a welcome relief for thousands of users facing digital payment blocks and app certification issues. With mobile payments, streaming rights, and banking increasingly tied to Google’s security checks, passing Play Integrity is no longer optional.

This move shows Xiaomi is serious about compliance and user trust, especially in Western markets and India—where services like Google Pay and Wallet are critical for daily life.

If you’ve been stuck without GPay or high-res Netflix due to “device not certified” errors, this is the update you’ve been waiting for.
